How many times are you going to hear this word uttered and relayed to the next generation, A word that seems to have unbouned limits and a life of it's own, A word that your dad and his dad before championed between cups of tea to their wifes -
" its all about the prep work my love, if you want a good finish " yerr we said, take your time dad.
Truth be told, it wasn't just an old excuse to take three days off to prepare the living room walls for a few rolls of wallpaper to be hung, over the following weekend, finishing just in time to what the football.
They were and are totally right !
Every man and woman that has insued the time sapping, relentless pursuit of their chosen trades apprenticeship will tell you, the perfection is in the detail and that detail is preparation.
Without preparation the jobs worthless but its the part no body wants to do or the part that the Amateur wants to skip, he wants to get to the finishing bit, the closs work on the door, the paint on the wall, make a show and get his pat on the back.
This is what separates the wheat from the chaff,
the amateur from the professionals and in turn the cowboys from the tradesmen.
Just because you have 25 years experience within a chosen trade, it doesn't mean your any good at it.
My grandad drove a car when he was 18 and stoved it up a tree, he continued to drive till he was well into his 70's, he smashed up more cars than Fords could manufacture,he gave up after 52 years, all that time and he still hadn't mastered it.
